Itinerary

» Day 1: Arrival Day in Bariloche
Your guides will meet you at the Bariloche airport. We will transfer you one hour north to the town of Villa La Angostura and check-in before going out for your first taste of Argentinean cuisine and wine. Then off to rest up for tomorrow’s first day of adventure!
Spend the next 3 evenings in this picturesque lakeside ski town, located 4 km down from the ski area. Bariloche offers good cuisine and the warm hospitality of a small ski town.

IMPORTANT: Book flights arriving into the international Buenos Aires Pistarini Airport (EZE) to allow minimum time (2-3 hours) to transfer to the domestic airport Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP) for the internal flight from Buenos Aries to Bariloche.

» Days 2 & 3: Ski Cerro Bayo - Travel to the ski resort of Cerro Bayo. This mountain (cerro) towers over the famous lake Lago Nahuel Huapi and offers sweeping views of the 100 km long lake. Cerro Bayo offers terrain for all skiers from challenging terrain with fresh tracks for those that are up for a quick hike, to long lengthy groomers. Get comfortable on your skis, while enjoying the warmth of this friendly and relaxed ski centre.

» Day 4: Travel to San Martin de Los Andes - Travel north to the beautiful mountain town of San Martin de Los Andes (approx 3.5 hours of travel time). Conditions permitting we will drive the famous Road of Seven Lakes, through one of the most scenic landscapes in Argentina. You will get to discover the varied landscapes of this beautiful part of Argentina and Patagonia.

San Martin de Los Andes boasts many fine restaurants and a variety of artisan stores. This winter and summer holiday town located on a mountain lake shore will be our home for 3 nights. We will arrive and you can stroll through the town exploring the unique architecture, shopping, and sampling more Argentinean wine. We will have a wine tasting and some great restaurants planned.

» Days 5 & 6: Ski Chapelco - Explore Chapelco Ski Resort's wide open bowls and glades for the next 2 days. This Patagonian resort offers uncrowded slopes and good opportunity for fresh tracks. Chapelco ski area offers magnificent views into the Chilean Andes and it’s highest volcano, Volcan Lanin, which has an altitude of 3776 m (12450 ft), and surrounded by forests of the famous Monkey Puzzle tree (Arucarius) as well as views over the waters of Lake San Martin.

» Day 7: Travel to Esquel - We head south and travel to our most southern point, the town of Esquel and the ski area called La Hoya ( around 6.5 hours of travel time). We will follow the route of Che Guevara’s motorcycle adventure along Route 40 and the tracks of the Old Patagonia Express, Argentina’s famous narrow gauge steam train line.

We stop at the 42nd parallel and the artisan town of El Bolson. In El Bolson we will visit the local craftsmens’ market and enjoy lunch with a few microbrews at the Cerveceria El Bolson.

In the afternoon we roll into the gaucho and Welsh influenced town of Esquel, where we will be spending the next three nights. Set in western Chubut province’s dramatic foothills, Esquel is the gateway community for La Hoya ski resort and Parque Nacional Los Alerces. The alerce tree, or Patagonian cypress, resembles California’s giant sequoia. They can reach 180 feet in height and 12 feet in diameter. Parque Alerce is filled with pristine lakes and streams and protects some of the largest remaining alerce forests. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid moved to the area in 1901 and spent 4 years ranching near the northeast entrance of the park, where their homestead still remains.

» Days 8 & 9: Ski La Hoya - For the next two days we will experience La Hoya’s excellent off-piste terrain and cold Patagonian powder. The name derives from the mountain shape, which is a wide circular glacial basin. La Hoya’s uncrowded slopes, varied terrain and location in the heart of the Patagonian Andes make it a truly unique Argentine ski destination. We spend the evenings sharing matte and enjoying the Patagonian gaucho hospitality.

» Day 10: Travel to Bariloche and Ski Cerro Catedral - Today we travel in the morning back to Bariloche (3 hours) and you will have the option to ski the afternoon at the largest ski area in Argentina, Cerro Catedral or explore the vibrant city of Bariloche, with a population of 120,000.

» Days 11,12 &13: Ski Cerro Catedral (Bariloche) - The modern ski area Cerro Catedral includes over 3,000 acres of in-bounds terrain and 39 lifts! The Snow Gods often bless us with deep powder days here. In the evenings, we will take advantage of Bariloche’s great nightlife and wealth of restaurants. Argentine wine accompanied by local Patagonian trout, salmon, and the famous beef from the plains of Argentina will tempt your tastebuds. Also there are ample shopping opportunities for high end products from shoes to leather coats at great prices with the exchange rate on the peso.
